Rebooting Melissa

April 25, 2008

Background

This blog is intended to track the progress of a 32 year old woman, Melissa, born in NYC, raised in a town outside of Boston, living for the past 6 years in Houston, TX.

Melissa is of Eastern/Central European descent and is a non-practicing Jew.

Melissa was diagnosed in August of 2007 after presenting with double vision in her left eye, balance issues and severe constipation. She started Rebif in September of 2007 and used it up until a month before starting the HiCy treatment. She had a major relapse/excacerbation in December/January of 2008 that left her bed bound for a period of time, unable to walk or raise her arms. She still suffers residual weakness and erratic reflex action on her left side. MS fatigue is crippling. Mel’s life consists of work and sleep, and nothing else.

She returns from work of an evening and sleeps, 20 hrs of sleeping on a Sat & Sun is the norm.

The blog will primarily be written by Jamie her fiance and chum.

What do we want from HiCy? Realistically - things to stop here, at least for a few years.

Dream wish? Our life of June 2007 back.
